PET2001 product reference from the HSY catalog. Confirm the exact dimensions, materials and configuration for the sample you order.

An OEM sample should answer a purchasing question: does this configuration fit the product your brand intends to sell? A device that lights up is only one part of that answer. Fit, fastening, controls, documentation and packaging also need clear acceptance criteria.

This checklist helps pet wellness brands and distributors prepare a sample brief before comparing quotations. If you have not chosen a format, start with our guide to back, hip, handheld and mat formats. Then use the steps below to define what the supplier should send and what your team will inspect.

1. Define the body area before the device dimensions

Record the target animal, intended body area and size range. For HSY, PET2001 is LED Therapy Pet Ridge for the back area; PET2003 is LED Therapy Pet Hip for the hip area. These names describe different product positions, not interchangeable wrap sizes.

A useful brief separates the overall product dimensions from the illuminated area and the fastening range. Ask for a dimensioned drawing and identify where each measurement starts and ends. A strap measurement alone does not explain coverage.

2. Agree what the sample is meant to prove

Ask whether the sample represents an existing configuration, a customized prototype or the intended production version. List any temporary materials, labels, controls or packaging. Otherwise, your team may approve a feature that will change before the order is produced.

Use a sample reference number and revision date. Photograph the received unit, its accessories and its labels. Keep a written list of accepted features and requested changes so the next revision can be compared with the same brief.

3. Check fit and everyday handling

Review how the wearable is positioned, fastened and removed. Are the straps accessible? Can the intended user reach the control button? Does the fastening arrangement keep the intended area aligned during the planned use? Define the fitting conditions with the supplier and follow the supplied instructions.

Inspect seams, edges, connectors and cable routing where applicable. Ask which cleaning methods are permitted for the actual materials and electrical assembly. Do not assume a flexible surface is washable or that a prototype has a waterproof rating.

4. Make light and power specifications comparable

Ask for the wavelength configuration, operating modes, power arrangement and available model-specific test information. If a quotation includes an irradiance value, request its measurement distance, test position, operating mode and instrument details. Numbers measured under different conditions may not be directly comparable.

Keep electrical input power, LED ratings and measured optical output in separate fields. Do not use one as a substitute for another. Record any unresolved measurement question before approving the specification.

5. Review controls, labels and supplied documents together

Check that button labels, indicator behavior and the instructions describe the same operation. Confirm the selected power accessories and plug requirements for the intended market. If a timer or adjustable mode is requested, specify its expected behavior rather than assuming it is included.

Request the documents applicable to the exact model, configuration and destination. A certificate for a different product is not evidence for the sample in your hands. Any therapeutic claims require separate substantiation; this procurement checklist does not establish treatment settings or clinical outcomes.

6. Separate product approval from branding and packaging approval

Define logo position, artwork version, label language, manual language and packaging contents. Review a packaging sample or approved layout separately from the device. Confirm that the box accommodates the agreed accessories and protects straps, controls and connectors in the intended shipping arrangement.

Ask for sample quantity, customization charges, minimum order quantity, lead time and warranty terms against the selected configuration. These belong in the quotation and order documents; do not infer them from a different model or a general promotional page.

A brief you can copy into a sample inquiry
  • Target animal, size range and intended body area:
  • Model or preferred product format:
  • Overall dimensions, illuminated area and fastening range:
  • Requested controls, modes and power accessories:
  • Required measurements and agreed test conditions:
  • Logo, labels, manual language and packaging scope:
  • Destination market and required documentation:
  • Sample quantity and expected order quantities:
  • Acceptance criteria and items still to be confirmed:
Before approving the next step

Close the review with three lists: accepted, change required and not yet verified. Keep the approved sample reference alongside the agreed specification and artwork. A visual approval should not silently become approval of untested performance, different materials or revised commercial terms.

For a back-area project, review PET2001 LED Therapy Pet Ridge as a starting reference. Send HSY your completed brief through our contact page so the proposed sample configuration and remaining questions can be reviewed together.
